He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorney Melcher and Violet Melcher; his wife Suzanne Melcher; and his daughter Rachel Melcher. He is survived by: his sons, James Melcher (Nicole Otis) and Micheal Melcher (Jaime Renner); his grandchildren, Katlyn Melcher and Nicholas Melcher; his brothers, Edward Melcher and Donny Melcher; and his siblings' children, Mandy Dew (Melcher), Brody Melcher and Donny Melcher.

A celebration of life was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the O'sullivan Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (215 St James St, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A1P7). Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (535 Imperial St S, Sables-Spanish Rivers, ON P0P1P0). A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
