He is survived by: his wife Barbara Cairns; his children, Justin Sweeney (Connie) and Kelsey Maroney (Jessie); his grandchildren, Olivia and Maeve; his siblings, Deborah Edwards (Paul) and Shawn Sweeney (Carla); his nephews, Ryan Edwards (Melanie), Kyle Edwards (Tiffany), Aidan Sweeney and Ally Sweeney; and his great-niece Rylie Edwards.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Trisan Centre (25 Dillane Dr, Schomberg, ON L0G1T0).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Rick's memory to support youth sports and hockey development causes that were close to Rick's heart.
