He is survived by : his children, Sharon Penty (David) and David Bates (Cindy); his grandchildren, Rebecca, Daniel, Michael Penty, Scott, Cameron, Matthew, Adam Bates, Lori, Michael Bates, Brad and Megan Balske; his great grandchildren, Caiden, Trinity, James and Madelyn; and his siblings, Catherine Bullen, Bill, Bob, Dorothy McKee and Betty Massey.

In Jim's memory, donations may be made to Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
