William left this world on January 24, 2026 at the age of 90, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellen May (Rintoul) and Joseph Harold Cruikshank; and his siblings, Ross, Bob, Sam and Mary.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Marie (Hamilton); his children, Jane Matthews (Steve), Joe (Linda), Brian (Beth) and David; his grandchildren, Emily O'Grady (Kyle), Melissa Matthews, Noah (Emily), Kayla, Ella, Erica and Gil Cruikshank; his great grandchildren, Scout and Tate; his sister Lorna Jean Hodgson; and his siblings-in-law, Joanne Gordon, Beth Firth and Howard Hamilton (Lynn Whelan). He is also survived by nephews, and many family and friends.
