He was predeceased by: his wife Rose Gatien; his parents, Lucien Gatien and Rita Gatien; and his siblings, Ronald Gatien (late Annette), Huguette Gatien, Jacqueline Bélanger (Denis) and Monique Madore.
He is survived by: his siblings, Lilianne Gatien, Gérard Gatien (Nicole), Gilles Gatien (Francine) and Marcel Gatien (Carole); his brother-in-law Lévis Madore; and his family, Anna Smith (Jim), Mary Anne Sheffield, Robert Sheffield (Andrea), Greg Sheffield, Cathy Sheffield, Roxanne and Nancy. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Blair & Son Smiths Falls Reception Centre (112 Beckwith St N, Smiths Falls, ON K7A2C2). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Merrickville Union Cemetery (204 Burritts Rapids Rd, Merrickville, ON K0G1N0).
