Matthew Munro Obituary

It is with great sadness from the family to announce the sudden death of their beloved Matthew Munro. Matt passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 4th, 2020 at the young age of 30. Matthew will lovingly and forever be remembered and missed by his father and mother David Munro, and Margaret Hurdis Munro. His big brother and sister Mark, and Darcy Munro. Matthew also leaves behind his grandfather Keith Munro (Dorothy), and his grandmother Ann Rubino Cook (Les). He will always be remembered by his many aunts, and uncles: Dan Munro, Richard (Liz) Hurdis, Irene McGahey, Joanne (Gerry) Coughlin, Allen (Kathy) Hurdis, Maxine (Scot) Monti, Kevin (Laurie) Hurdis. He will be missed dearly by all of his cousins, Angela (Chris) Beazley, Jason (krystal) & Brittany Hurdis. Tracy, Tanya, Todd, and Vance McGahey. April, Shelley, and Darrell Coughlin. Amanda Hurdis (Les), Danielle Hurdis (Johnny), Josh and Jaime Monti, Kaiti Carrier. Matt had countless close friends, most who were like family. Jeff Dezell who nicknamed him "Red", for one. He loved growing up on the farm with the Petch family, and shared a special bond with so many other families, even leaving a hole in the musical community. Those who knew Matt, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He touched so many with his heart of gold, his only fault was that he cared too much. His infectious smile, and ability to make people laugh, be happy, and have a good time will never be forgotten. He loved life, and everyone in it. Matt made new friends effortlessly, and cared so much for his entire family. Always the one to make sure he said "I love you", and with the warmest of hugs every time before leaving us. We were such a close family. His love and passion for music, hockey, good food, and people will live on through us all. We all loved him dearly, and will never understand why this has happened, but Matt would want us all to continue to enjoy life and live it to the fullest, even when it seems impossible without him by our sides. We hope that he watches over us, and knows that we love, and miss him so very much. We will think of him each and every day. Mourning you is unbearable Matt. Nothing will be the same without you here. Take care of Grandpa and Grandma Art, and Pearl Hurdis, Nan (Lottie Rubino), Bugsy, and uncle Jim (McGahey) up there. Go Leafs Go !!

The family wish to ask that everyone respect their decision in having a private viewing to say their goodbyes to Matt. They will then follow him to the Hopetown Cemetery where they will lay him to rest. Everyone are welcome to attend the burial and say their goodbyes at this time. Thursday, December 10, 2020 1:00PM. (Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, face covering and social distancing are required and attendance is limited).A celebration of life will follow in the summer of 2021 pending pandemic status. We want to thank everyone for their outpouring love, and support during such a difficult time. Those who so desire may make donations in memory of Matthew to Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health. 179 Elmsley Street N Smiths Falls, On K7A 2H8. Please, if you have photos/videos of, or with Matt could you please send them to [email protected] to be used as part of the memorial. Thank You.

"Winds Of Change"

Follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change
An August summer night
Soldiers passing by

Listening to the wind of change
The world is closing in
Did you ever think
That we could be so close, like brothers

The future's in the air
Can feel it everywhere
Blowing with the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change

Walking down the street
Distant memories
Are buried in the past, forever

I follow the Moskva
Down to Gorky Park
Listening to the wind of change

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams

With you and me
Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change
The wind of change

Blows straight into the face of time
Like a storm wind that will ring the freedom bell
For peace of mind
Let your balalaika sing
What my guitar wants to say

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow share their dreams
With you and me

Take me to the magic of the moment
On a glory night
Where the children of tomorrow dream away
In the wind of change
