He was predeceased by: his former wife Edith DeVries; his children, Ellen Douma (Rick) of Iroquois, Oscar (Linda) of Manilla, Rick (Tanya) of Spencerville, Garnet (Dorean) of Merrickville and Tina Zersch (Rob) of South Mountain; and his stepdaughter Joann Bell of Ottawa.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; and his grandchildren, Christopher (Amy), Craig (Andrea), Nicole (Chris), Ryan (Kyla), Jenna, Curtis (Liz), Jack, Lindsay, Sean, Rourke (Samira), Slate (Megann), Laird, Gretchen, Morgan (Bryn), Jared, Karly, Sierra (Jason), Joel, Connor (Katherine), Taylor, Abby, Carter, Shannon (Khoi) and Miranda (Josh). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Ontario or the Kidney Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
