Folkert DeVries Obituary
It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Folkert DeVries of South Mountain, Ontario, who passed away at the age of 87, on June 3, 2025. He was predeceased by: his former wife Edith DeVries; his children, Ellen Douma (Rick) of Iroquois, Oscar (Linda) of Manilla, Rick (Tanya) of Spencerville, Garnet (Dorean) of Merrickville and Tina Zersch (Rob) of South Mountain; and his stepdaughter Joann Bell of Ottawa.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; and his grandchildren, Christopher (Amy), Craig (Andrea), Nicole (Chris), Ryan (Kyla), Jenna, Curtis (Liz), Jack, Lindsay, Sean, Rourke (Samira), Slate (Megann), Laird, Gretchen, Morgan (Bryn), Jared, Karly, Sierra (Jason), Joel, Connor (Katherine), Taylor, Abby, Carter, Shannon (Khoi) and Miranda (Josh). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Community Christian Reformed Church (10951 Cook Rd, Iroquois, ON K0E1K0). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Ontario or the Kidney Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
