She was predeceased by : her parents, Cecil Elmer Kirkby and Violet Gardener Kirkby; her husband James Henry Smith; her siblings, Robert, Alfred, Lloyd Kirkby and Muriel McBride; and her granddaughter-in-law Janet Lee Nicole Myers.

She is survived by : her children, Moira Myers (Grant), Kirk Smith (Kim), Shelley Passfield (Bob) and Tara Penner (Dwight); her grandchildren, George Myers (Cherie), Rachel Nadon (Andrew), Kevin Myers (Chelsea), Sabrina Smith (Dave), Tyler Smith (Katrina), Jordan Passfield (Monica), Gillian Thompson (Aiden), Jessop Penner (Alysia) and Haley Gervais (Mathew); her great grandchildren, Tanner Jones (Kristy), Tyler Myers (Ada), Dakota, Tegan, Kaiden Passfield, David Lambert, Victoria, Alex Penner, Freya Gervais and Skye Myers; her great great grandchildren, Maxwell, Addison Myers and Peyton Jones; and her brothers, Jim Smith and McMaster University.
