With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen Smalko of St. Catharines, Ontario, who passed away on January 28, 2026 at the age of 97. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Helen Smalko to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her husband Walter; her grandson Brody Hunter; her parents, John Berkyto and Jennie Berkyto; and her brother Edward Berkyto.
She is survived by: her daughters, Carol Kurek (late Edward) of London, ON, Cindy Hunter (Darryl) of Meeting Creek, AB and Cathy Billings (Ross) of Foothills, AB.; her grandchildren, Daniel Kurek (Emma Boug), Nicholas Kurek (Suesan), Devon Hunter and Forrest Billings; and her sister-in-law Marilyn.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Victoria Lawn Cemetery (431 Queenston St, St. Catharines, ON L2P2Y3).
