He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sister McPhearson; his grandchildren, Jack (Marlee), Nicholas (JoAnn), Rachel, Declan and Riley (Sydney); his wife Maureen; his stepchildren, Sally, Tamlyn (Rupert Harrison) and Philippa Tate-Gilder; his grandchildren, Daisy (James Bennett), Anna (Mike) and Theo (Rhys); and his great grandchildren, Wolfie and Winnie.

Donations to Shaw Festival Niagara-on-the-Lake would have pleased him as he was an avid theatre goer until his 100th year.
