He was predeceased by: his son Kevin; his parents, Sam and Ruth; his grandparents, Louis and Esther Bloom; his uncle Bill "Unk" Bloom; and his friends, Norman Blair, Pearl Katzman, Shie and Lin.

He is survived by: his wife Dr. Maria Becker; his son Simon MacDougall Sadava; his daughter-in-law Claire; his grandson Jack; his brothers, David (Dianne) and Mike (Anne); and his brothers-in-law, Claudio, Alvaro and Sergio.
