He was predeceased by: his parents, Reid Smith and Gwen Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Muir McLaren, Bruce "Moon" Mooney, George Leng, Ruth Leng and Dorothy McLaren.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Smith (Leng); his children, Michelle Jones (Scott) and Jeff Smith (Sue); his grandchildren, Robin Jones, Aurora and Cassandra Smith; his brother Blake Smith (Marilyn); and his sisters-in-law, Marlene "Mar" Mooney and Sandra Leng.
Due to the COVID pandemic and current public health recommendations, a private memorial will be held.
