He was predeceased by: his son Derrick James Carnie; and his parents, Jack and Audrey. He is survived by: his wife Mary Carnie (Makins) of Stratford; his daughter Barbara (Derek Quinlan) of Oakville; his grandchildren, Mikaila and Sydney; his son Michael Carnie (Judy) of Mississauga; his stepson Michael Kelly (Mahsa) of Burlington; his stepgrandchildren, Elika and Eli; his stepmother Marion of Toronto; and his brothers, James (Dian), William (Karen) and Ronald (Tuppy).

Due to COVID restrictions, a private service has been arranged.
