He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gerber and Anna Gerber (Yoder); his former wife Pauline (Steckly); and his siblings-in-law, Frieda, Lester Leis, Hans Troester, William and Roy Steckley.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth (Albrecht); his children, Richard (Heather), Roger (Judy), Bonnie (David Ropp) and Donna (Dale Schultz); his stepchildren, Marlene, Maury Patton, Sharon and Owen Price; his grandchildren, Jordan Gerber (Caitlyn), Jamie Gerber (Hannah), Adam Ropp (Hayley), Scott, Callie Ropp, Ryan Ropp (Anna), Rebecca Ropp (Justin), Danielle, Sam Zehr, Renee, Braden Gerber, Austin Schultz, Noah Patton, Emma Patton, Kalyn Price and Nolan Price; his great grandchildren, Emmanuel and Paisley; his friend Farmall; and his siblings-in-law, David Jutzi, Mary, Delmar Bender, Clara, Irene, Bud, Ruth Gerber, Judy, John Mohr, Merrill Steckley, Beatrice, Patricia and Melvin Jantzi.
