She was predeceased by: her husband John Thurlow; and her significant other Ross Martin. She is survived by: her children, Herb (Rosalene), Bruce, Gwyn (Murray) and Kim (Chad). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society in Karin's memory are appreciated by the family.
