“Mary and I played opposite each other in Ah! Wilderness at Gryphon Theater back in 1976. I still remember our scene out on the wharf. The set went out into the audience, pushed there at the top of the scene. And the audience always gasped, thinking they were going to be hit by it. We both had to take a beat for that to happen and there was this twinkle in her eye that said, "Wait, wait for it". Each performance was transcendent. She had such a gift. My condolences.”

“My very deepest condolences to all who loved Mary. She played my mother in my first comedy at the Shaw Festival. "You Can't Take It With You." My first legit play and her first time playing a 'mother' which she was not impressed with....her roles up to then had been engenues . She forbade me to call her mother outside of rehearsals. She was so awesome and unique in so many ways. She mentored me over the years at Shaw as no one else has....such a brilliant comedienne and friend. RIP Monkey xo”
