He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Kappes and Ella Kappes; his wife Joan Kappes; his daughters, Pauline Dietz and Sherry Bach (Don); his grandson Nelson; and his brothers, Adolph (late Joanne), Stephen, Tim and Tom Kappes.

He is survived by: his children, Chris Klos (Richard), Pam Vock, Sandy Helms and Mark Kappes (Cindy); his siblings, Verner Kappes (late Marilyn), John Kappes (Carol), Carl Kappes, Carol Blair (late Ron) and Elvira Angelliti (Richard); his grandchildren, Jessie (Jen), Ian (Angela), Jennie (Brad), Jonathan, Kristy, Kyle (Laura), Jeremy (Mandy), Rebecca and Byron (Katie); and his great grandchildren, Jordan, Cole, Karly, Connor, Leyla, Karla, Megan, Cody, Brayden and Karissa.
