He was predeceased by: his parents, James Earl and Margaret Sylvain (Cardill); his wife Janet; and his siblings, Verdun "Bert", Gerald, Wilfrid, Cecil "Spence", Gordon, Geraldine "Gerry" and Dorothy "Dollie".
He is survived by: his children, Kathie Cuerden of Stratford, Earl Sylvain (Karen) of Waterdown and Cindy Shaw (Philip) of Dresden; his grandchildren, Meaghan (Brendan), Jocelyn (Matt), Shannon (Tim), Matt (Katrina), Holly, Sasha (Brock) and Annalise "Annie" (Shaya); and his great grandchildren, William, Rosie, Beth, Attley, Nick, Tom, Grainger, Delilah, Meadow and Ellie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
