He was predeceased by: his son Jason; his siblings, Steven "Doug" Bell and Jeannie Elliott; and his parents, Samuel Bell and Frances Bell.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Bell (Jones); his children, Martin, Stacey Riddell (Dave) and Nancy Kaiser; his daughter-in-law Mary Bell; his grandchildren, Ashley (Jordan), Charlotte, Kaylea, Cameron, Nicole, Chloé, Sydney and Aidan; his great grandchildren, Everly, Wyatt, Maxwell, Theodore and Bowen; and his sister Frances MacKinnon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam's memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 498 Poppy Fund.
