With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Giannina Ongaro (Sudbury, Ontario), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Giannina left this world on November 17, 2025 at the age of 81, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her husband Marcello Ongaro; and her parents, Oreste Fregonese and Teresa (Furlan). She is survived by: her children, Giulia Kingston (Stephen), Anita De Mattia (Brian) and Aldo Ongaro (Danielle); her grandchildren, Spencer (Britney), Mia, Renata, Adam, Justin (Mireille), Amelia (Daniel) and Alexander (Nyssa); and her siblings, Dina Farinon (Luigi) and Dino Fregonese (Gianna). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lougheed Funeral Home (252 Regent St, Greater Sudbury, ON P3C4C8). A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Hope Church (591 Brennan Rd, Greater Sudbury, ON P3C 5L6).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to ALS Canada or the St. Joseph Continuing Care Centre.
