He was predeceased by: his spouse Marion Baston; his parents, Guy Thorpe and Jeanetta (Greencorn) of Kentville, NS.; his sister Nina; and his sons, Grant Jr. (Pauline) and Frederick.

He is survived by: his siblings, Allen, Glen, Gordon, Kenneth, Bernice, Myrtle, Rita, Leonna Greencorn of Nova Scotia and Sheila Cull of New Brunswick; and his daughters, Brenda Sandstrom (Harry), Katherine LaBrecque (Blair), Sandra Berlingeri (Greg) and Darlene Dorion (Lionel). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
