He is survived by: his daughters, Kristen and Erica Ashe; his wife Tammy Ashe; his sister Janice Mercer (Kevin); his parents-in-law, Clair Bracken (Sheila) and Douglas Logan (Edith); and his brother-in-law Brad Bracken.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northeast Cancer Centre in his honour.

“I am deeply saddened about the passing of a good friend I've known for most of my life. My earliest memories of Jamie are of playing street hockey on Algonquin Avenue in Kirkland Lake. Jamie was an usher at my wedding 37 years ago. Though we lost touch for a long time, I'm grateful we recently reconnected. I will truly miss our conversations about hockey and life. We also shared a bond over his battle with cancer, as my wife was recent diagnosis, which had a different depth to our conversations.”
