He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Emile and Bernadine Bernier; his grandchild Erin; and his brothers, Roland Bernier, Raymond R. Bernier and Paul Emile Bernier Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Denyse Yvette Bernier; his children, Michelle Bernier Wilson (James), Marc Bernier, Judith Leblanc (David), Jacques Bernier (Val) and Richard Bernier (Susan); his grandchildren, Colin (Sara), Katherine, Michael (Véronique), Lisa (Chris Lemieux), Marise (Ian Aubrey), Andrew, Patrick (Ariana) and Laura; his great grandchildren, Owen, Jacob, Jessica, Cole, Riley, Jayde and Jackson; and his sister Gabrielle Casey (Frank).
