He was predeceased by: his parents, John Peter and Helen Vis; and his daughter Diane Proulx (late Yvon). He is survived by: his spouse Alma Vis of Hanmer; his children, John Jr. (Monique), Hélène Grasser (Gord), James Foulem (Angèle) and Joanne Foulem (Bryan); and his grandchildren, John, Chad, Jerry, Stephanie, Travis, Cody, Jennie, Amanda and Kristina.
