He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Martel; his girlfriend Jennifer Burgess; his daughter Christine Martel; his parents, Jean-Marc Martel and Jeanne Martel; and his sisters, Theresa and Claire.
He is survived by: his children, Carole Martel (John) and Jean-Marc Martel (Tammy); his stepdaughter Amber Burgess; and his siblings, Joseph (Allison), Gerry (Cosimina), Suzane, Pierre (Sue), Gilles (Joanne), Danielle, Pauline (Paul), Joanne, Aurel (Natalie) and Giselle. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home (233 Larch St, Greater Sudbury, ON P3E3E1). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the R. J. Barnard Chapel (233 Larch St, Greater Sudbury, ON P3E3E1). A burial was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Lasalle Cemetery (298 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, ON P3A1W6).
