He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Cloutier and Florence Desbiens; and his sibling Cleova. He is survived by : his significant other Marcel Lafantaisie; and his siblings, Gerald (Pam), Paul (Monique), Richard (Carole), Raymond (Dawn), Lea (late Alain), Joanne (late Joe), Carole (Dennis) and Claude (Sandra). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Robert requested donations be made to Sudbury Epilepsy Information Zone (Seize).
