He is survived by: his father Michael Johnston (Viola); his children, Andrew Johnston, Justin McVey (late Brianne), Adam McVey (Katelyn), Matthew Johnston, Logan McVey and Alyssa McVey; and his siblings, Donna Whalen (John), Cheryl Hachey (Chris), Greg Johnston (Julie), Sherry MacDonald (Bill), Jody MacDonald, Gail Hayes (Peter) and Gary MacDonald (Tracy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
