Walter Joseph Herd Obituary
In loving memory of Walter Joseph Herd, 81 years old who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury with his loving family by his side. Beloved father of Christine Herd (Dennis Quesnel) of Orangeville and Steve Herd (Cindy Carefoote) of Oshawa and their mom Susan Amber McPherson (Fulham) (Herd) (divorced) predeceased 2020. Dear son of John William "Bill" and Charlotte Mildred Herd both predeceased. He is survived by his sister Margaret "Muggs'" Boll (Charles "Charlie" Ulrich) of Ingersoll. He is loved and will be missed by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Walter was born and raised in Ingersoll. He always worked hard, leaving school very young to help himself and family. In early years, at 19 years of age he served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 3 years on the HMCS Nipigon Ship. He retired from truck driving with Kinsdale Carriers, Beachville. After retirement he moved up north to St. Charles which he enjoyed very much.
Many memories made with his best friends Fred Brearley predeceased 2019, Betty Miller-Pickering and her family and Jim Denholm. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, boating, waterskiing, driving ATV, riding horses, motorcycling, and camping. His wish for family and friends is to spend more time with family, do more fishing, learn how to fix own vehicles, continue to be kind, patient and forgiving.
His final wishes are to celebrate him with your own friends and family and to be happy and grateful for everyone in your life.
