Gordon Gus Asselstine Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon "Gus" Asselstine, age 96, on June 25, 2025, at Kingston General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Gus was a man who lived life to the fullest, with an unwavering love for the outdoors. He found joy in fishing and hunting and took great pride in caring for his property. His connection to nature was matched only by his devotion to his family and his community.
Known for his fierce independence, quick wit, and generous heart, Gus was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His big-hearted nature and positive spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Even in his final days, he remained full of gratitude for the life he had lived and the people who surrounded him.
Gus was predeceased by his beloved wife Charlotte and daughter Connie. He leaves behind his cherished wife Bessie, sons Allan and Michael, daughters in law Valorie (nee Snyder) and Valerie (nee Gibson) and a large, loving family including grandchildren Andy, Peter, Carey Lynn, Lindsay, Danielle, Josh, and Melissa, as well as great-grandchildren Hunter, Reagan, Reid, Natalie, Anna, Maya, Lily and Ben.
His legacy of love, independence, and generosity will live on through the many lives he touched and the family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
The family thanks the medical staff and nurses on Kidd 6&7 at KGH for their exceptional care. The viewing is scheduled for Monday, July 7th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with Funeral to follow at 1 P.M. at Trousdale's Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Wilmer Cemetery. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
