John Lewis Daveikis Obituary
John is predeceased by his parents Victor and Frances Daveikis, his brother Victor, and his nephew Myles. Survived by his sisters Polly Hill Daveikis, Dillon Daveikis, Melissa Daveikis and brother Derrick Daveikis. John had very significant relationships with all his nephews, Darryl, Lewis and Aaron Hill, Myles and Dillon Daveikis, Evan and Jack Daveikis, and his neice Alexandra Daveikis. Nephew Lewis describes his Uncle John thusly: John taught us about the importance of art. He encouraged drawing and painting, and always made sure we had all the supplies we needed. He turned us onto rock and roll. He gave me Jimi Hendrix and Spinal Tap. He showed us film making, as he always had a camera in his hand documenting life. And how cool it was to have an Uncle who worked in the movies! Who designed pop culture icons like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. He showed that art could be a career! And he encouraged humour. No one was funnier than Uncle John. His commitment to bits, and making others laugh was uncanny. All of these things still exist in my life today. John also shared a deep and abiding relationship with Dan Aykroyd and had cameo appearances in several of Dan's movies. A heartfelt thanks to Dan for his loving assistance in helping John towards the end.
