She was predeceased by: her son Laurie; her parents, George Saarela and Dolly Saarela; and her brothers, Grant "Shorty" (Joy) and Nestor (Bev Howard).
She is survived by: her son George; her grandchild Cordell; her brother Bryan Saarela (Nancy); and her caregiver Kirsten. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Beggs Funeral Home (175 Main St, Thessalon, ON P0R1L0). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
