He was predeceased by : his wife Joan Virgina O'Brien; his parents, John O'Brien and Ann O'Brien; and his sisters, Marla Kirk, Joan Corsaut and Joyce Carpenter.

He is survived by : his children, Peter O'Brien (Hannelore), Alison O'Brien and Patrick O'Brien (Cassandra); his sisters, Laura Mounier of France and Paula Bejamic of Windsor; and his grandchildren, Lori Dietrich (Chris), Heather Di Murro (Marco), Jake O'Brien (Alysha), Shane, Scott Howard, Vanessa and Fraser Kenney.
