He is survived by: his daughters, Nicole Watts, Valerie Watts-Dafoe (Josh) and Carolyn Watts (Ray); his mother Eleanor Watts; and his siblings, Geordie, Gwen and Jim Watts. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honour Darrell's memory are invited to make a donation to Bikers Down Society or Toys for Tots Canada.

“Sincere condolences to the family. I have known Darrell since the late 70's and immediately considered him a "keeper". We have been friends and co-workers forever; dealing with adventure, adversity and triumphs together. He had an uncanny ability to make people feel at ease often poking fun at his own misfortunes (remember his "Rustang"?) Our travels together were epic and I will cherish our recent times together whenever he returned to Thunder Bay.”
