He was predeceased by: his wife Joan; his brother Peter; and his parents, John and Olga. He is survived by: his children, Donald Jr. (Debbie), Dale (Patti) and Patty Blimkie (Deric); his grandchildren, Danielle (Kyle), Stephanie (Rob), Justin (Brittany), Jamie, Jason and Sean; his great grandchildren, Hailey, Chace, Ethan, Madison, Levi and Sawyer; and his siblings, Pat Weaver, Bill (Pat) and Barbara Nixon (Rick).
