He was predeceased by: his parents, James Shanks and Christina Shanks (MacDonald); his siblings, Jim, Hector, Bill, Norma Barnsely and Nancy Latimer; and his siblings-in-law, Norma Shanks, Helen Shanks, Jack Latimer and Art Prouty.
He is survived by: his sister Etta Prouty; his nieces and nephews, Bonnie Miller (Tom), Doug Shanks (Karen), Don Shanks (Rachael Paquette), Bill Shanks, Morna Toderash (Harry), Leslie Lalime (Ron), Bruce Prouty (Kin), Brenda Prouty, Heather Niskanen (Sandy), Rob Prouty (Wendy) and Tracey Trapnell (James) of Peoria Arizona; his friend Millie Agombar; and his great-niece Meghan Shanks. He is also survived by many grand nieces/nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
