He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Smykalski and Harry Smykalski; his stepfather William Holigan; and his siblings, Freddy, Mikey, Stanley, Billy, George and Margaret.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Joanne, Patrick and Jennifer (Shane); and his grandchildren, Lindsay, Ashlee (Mike), Kaitlynn (Adam), Tanner, Megan (Brendan), Vanessa (Andrew) and Addy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.
