She was predeceased by: her husband Matti Niittula (Matias); her daughter Ellen Bengtsson; her parents, Into Toivonen and Sanni Toivonen; and her siblings, Rachel Laukka (Arvo), Annie Nisula (Veikko), Toini Kivisto (Reino), Aini Rajala (Arnold) and Lauri Toivonen.

She is survived by: her son Richard (Elena); her son-in-law Bob Bengtsson; her grandchildren, Krista Cheeseman (Alan), Michael Bengtsson, Derrian, Haleigh and Paige Niittula; her great grandchildren, Megan, Sierra Cheeseman, Carli, Chloe and Londyn Bengtsson; her brother Oiva Toivonen (Maria); her sister-in-law Ilona Toivonen; her godchildren, Elma Hill and Edwin Kivisto; and her cousin Rick Munn (Scali).
