He was predeceased by: his parents, Eva Jean (Dick) and Samuel James Esquega; his grandparents, Lucy and Earl Gonie; and his siblings, Ina Carr, Angelique, Bernadine, Mathew and Albert.
He is survived by: his children, Josephine, Joseph, Michael, Samuel and Franklin; and his siblings, Theresa, Evelyn, Francis, Agnes, Daniel, Charlene, Marlene, Nelindina and Denise. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A wake was held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 at the Rocky Bay First Nation Community Centre. A funeral service was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 at the Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek Cemetery.
