He was predeceased by: his parents, Teresa Gvora and John Gvora; his wife Eleanor Buttman; his daughter Karen; his brothers, John Jr. and Steve; his sisters-in-law, Joanne Gvora, Helen Gvora and Delores Smith; and his parents-in-law, Caroline and Walter Buttman.

He is survived by: his children, David (Elena), Barry (Debbie), Randy (Kindi), Loriann and Michelle (Rob); his grandchildren, David (Andrea), Justin (Caitlyn), Jennifer (Jason), Mitchell (Michelle), Nicole (Ryan), Tyler (Sarah), Brandon and Ashley; his great grandchildren, Lucas, Aria, Mason, Aiden, Kaleb and Mila; and his brother-in-law Lawrence Buttman (Lily). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
