He was predeceased by: his parents, Kustaa Torkko and Aini Torkko; his wife Ritva; and his siblings, Jussi, Ellen and Aili.

He is survived by: his close friend Pirkko Niemi; his daughter Anne Halverson; his grandchildren, Erik and Elysha Gill; his nephew Ari Torma; and also, Darren Gill and Pentti.
