Roy Rusty Kakekagumick Obituary

We are sad to announce that on December 26, 2025, at the age of 64, Roy Rusty Kakekagumick (Thunder Bay, Ontario) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Kakekagumick and Kanina Kakekagumick; his daughter Kimberly Kakekagumick; his brothers, John Kakekagumick and Leroy Kakekagumick; and his siblings' children, Gemayle Williams, Lucan Meekis and Albert Williams.

He is survived by: his children, Beverly Mawakeesic, Kienan Williams and Cameron Kakekagumick; his grandchild Emery Mae; his siblings, David D. Kakegamic, Ilean Linklater, Stella Meekis, Bernice Reszitnyk, Denise Kakegamic and Jake Jr. Kakekagumick; and his goddaughter Zeena Meekis.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 2nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and on Saturday, January 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Friday, January 2nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel (21 Court St N, Thunder Bay, ON P7A4T4).

Contribution to CommunityRoy served as band councilor for three terms for Sandy Lake First Nation.
