He was predeceased by: his parents, Monica Kardas and Stanislav Kardas; and his brothers, Michael Kardas and Krystof Kardas. He is survived by: his significant other Patricia Larway; his sons, Kristof (Valerie), Daniel (Nicole) and Jason (Lindsay); his grandchildren, Natalya, Katya, Kael, Keiran and Aila; his sister-in-law Teresa Kardas; his niece Agata Remi; and his nephew Martin Kardas.
In 1975 Okeefe Sports Foundation recognized Slavs achievements and appointed him to Canadian Development Coach for Canada.
