She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph; her brother Joseph Engelhardt; her sister-in-law Maria; her sister Veronica Kanyo; and her siblings-in-law, Steve and Mary Schafer.
She is survived by: her children, Joanne Backus (John) of Simcoe and Thomas Schafer (Linda) of Tillsonburg; her grandchildren, John Backus (Eva), Jeffrey Backus, Janelle Cluett (Cameron) and Stephen Schafer (Alainna); her great grandchildren, Brock, Liam, Jacob, Carson and Maryn; her brother-in-law Tony Schafer (Carol); and her cousin Liz Drotos. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Regrettably, due to COVID-related attendance restrictions, visitation on Monday, March 29th, 2021 will be by invitation only from 9:45 a. m. to 10:45 a. m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes - Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg (519-842-4238). All guests must bring and wear a face covering and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
