He was predeceased by: his wife Thérèse Fortier; his parents, Joseph Fortier and Aldéa Fortier; and his son Robert Laurin. He is survived by: his siblings, Marie-Paule Plouffe, Anne McPhee, Yvonne Lamarche, Fernande Camiré, Rita Lachance and Ben Fortier; his children, Richard Fortier (Marie) and Rose Stewart (Donald); his brother Fernand Fortier (late Bertha); and his grandchildren, Tammy Stewart (Jake), Danielle Stewart, Céleste Fortier and Vincent Fortier.
