It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Akio Shinya (Toronto, Ontario), who passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Shinsuke and Kitayo; his siblings, Shizuo (Fuyuko), Kazue (Yukio), Sadao, Masaichi (Mary), Hiroshi, Suyeko, Toshie (Harding), Shinji and Yoshiko (Shig); and his brother-in-law Frank.

He is survived by: his sister Kiku Gloria; and his sister-in-law Hideko. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Highland Funeral Home - Scarborough (3280 Sheppard Ave E, Scarborough, ON M1T3K3).

In lieu of flowers and koden, donations to the Momiji Health Care Society would be appreciated.
