We are sad to announce that, on July 29, 2021 we had to say goodbye to Bessie Ruth Cavell (Butt) Tyrrell of Toronto, Ontario. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Len; and her sons, David and Ted. She is survived by: her sons, Paul (Ann) and Christopher (Joanna); her grandchildren, Nicole (Peter), Laura (Jeff), Alexa (Jamie) and Benjamin (Alena); and her great grandchildren, Isla and Claire.

Due to Covid restrictions, capacity is limited to 30 and by invitation only.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to any or all the following charities that Cavell was a regular donor to: Covenant House, Daily Bread Food Bank, Interval House.

“I was just reading one of Cavell’s letters she wrote from England in 1984 to my aunt, Joan Downing, the great grand daughter of John Butt. Cavell was asking about ancestry/family stories about John Butt of NL in the 1800’s that Joan may have heard. Cavell sounds so vibrant in her books, stories, and letters she has brought to me that I cannot believe she has passed. My condolences. I will miss her and value the knowledge she has brought.”
