Christopher Montgomery Smith Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Christopher Montgomery Smith (Toronto, Ontario), who passed away on October 29, 2020 at the age of 34. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Chris is survived by his his parents James & Nellie, his brother Matthew & sister Laura. A part from being an outstanding son & brother he was also a remarkable uncle, cousin, nephew & friend.
Chris had a passion for working as a professional roofer & handyman, & without hesitation would always free up his schedule to help with home projects for family, friends & neighbours. He would show up diligently with his quick wit, infectious smile and compassionate spirit.
More then anything in this world, Chris loved being with his family. Over the last 5 years he had created a remarkably special bond with each of us. He looked forward to every family gathering no matter how big or small.
He adored his mother’s cooking, watching Raptors games together & the nights spent laughing & chatting about the past, present & future. Chris never failed to openly express his gratitude & love for all she did for him & continued to do.
He loved hearing his father’s consistent & wise life advice & spending nights grilling on the BBQ, watching UFC or listening to his dad’s playlist and singing along together.
His brother Matthew was his confidant from childhood memories to grown up dreams, Christopher was smiling from ear to ear when he got to be there after the birth of his first born son Zaidan & was in awe at the dedicated father Matt became. From the comfort of their own homes the two never went a day without ending the night playing their favourite video game whilst discussing their day.
He was his sister Laura’s protector and spent nearly every weekend together, going on adventures around the city & discussing their endless similar interests in music, film , tv or life ideologies. He was always her go-to, a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on & a mentor.
Chris had a special gift of grounding his loved ones & undoubtedly was each of our truest and closest best friend.
He loved driving his truck, being outdoors with animals & nature, family & friends but most importantly he loved life. He was kind and welcoming to every person he encountered including strangers. He kept those around him laughing & had a heart of gold as well a passion for teaching and helping others to reach their full potential.
We are thankful for the 34 years we got to spend with him. His light and love will always remain.
Goodbye Christopher, we love and miss you dearly.
