He was predeceased by: his parents, David Macbean Ross and Jean Winder Smith; his brothers, Andrew and David; his stepfather G. Winder Smith; Frances White.
He is survived by: his wife Gretchen Ross; his children, Tory Ross (Keith Gordey), David Ross (Line Forestier), Felicia Ross, Jamie White (Christine Awrey) and Lucy White (Lee Lamothe); and his grandchildren, Ross, Lucy, Kate, Stephanie, Katherine, James, Hailey and Aly.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Humphrey Funeral Home A. W. Miles-Newbigging Chapel (1403 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M4S2N4). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 15th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Church (300 Lonsdale Rd, Toronto, ON M4V1X4).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, and in the spirit of Donald's commitment to philanthropy, donations can be made to the Canadian Canoe Museum, The National Ballet of Canada, the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, or to a charity of your choice.
