He was predeceased by: his wife Loretta Murphy; and his son Edward Michael Murphy. He is survived by: his daughters, Donna, Diane (Stephen) and Debbie (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Sarah, Edward, Sierrah, Joseph (Angella), Stephanie and Matthew; and his great grandchildren, Kirah and Jayden.
