Phyllis M wrote a sympathy message

“In loving memory of Ian F Robertson, someone so special will not be forgotten. I’m so sorry that I came across this late. Ian and I lost touch but I have so many fun memories of him and the time we spent working together at HBC. We remained friends after we both left. He’d spoil my daughter (then daughters) and bring them books when they were small. I had a lot of great conversations with Ian! I’m sorry for your loss. I will still think of him fondly and often. He was one of a kind.”

David Medhurst wrote a sympathy message

“Condolences to Alec and Jean as well as the rest of the family. I am so very saddened to have learned of Ian’s passing. Our childhood adventures are very dear to me and continue to have a huge influence on what I do today. He was a wonderful wonderful person that, although our communications over the years have been few and far between, will continue to hold a special place in my heart. I will remember him always.”

Beno John wrote a sympathy message

“I’ve known Ian ever since we worked at Ticketmaster. He had a singular wit and was a remarkable and engaging conversationalist no matter what topic. Ian was incredibly well-read in literature, history and science and one of the few people who could speak with as much ease about current theories on the origin of the cosmos as the checkered history of the Junction district in Toronto. His unique laughter and ever ironic outlook on life will always be with me. Peace be with you, my friend.”

Gordon Carruthers wrote a sympathy message

“Ian worked with us from maybe 1987 until about 1996. Most of us called him IFR. When you work in a call center, you get to know everyone reasonably well, and Ian was pretty memorable. He had idiosyncracies, and god help you if you borrowed his purple stapler without asking him. He was curmudgeonly, and enjoyed liquor more than one should, but he always had an opinion and I missed him. We were facebook friends, and was on my bucket list to re-connect in person when Covid passes over.”

Salim Ladha wrote a sympathy message

“I will always remember Ian as he was always so kind to me when we worked together at Ticketmaster. He always took the time to speak with me and I remember very well the kindness he showed when my Dad has passed. I remember his wicked sense of humour. May he rest in peace. My deepest sympathies. Salim”
